Residence/Orientation Week Hacks
Residence/Orientation Week, when the new students arrive at MIT, is a chaotic and exciting period during which the new students are introduced to MIT by sudden, total immersion in a flurry of activity. By the end of it, the new students have chosen a place to live, which classes they're going to take, have made several new friends, and have a rudimentary understanding of the MIT culture and counter-culture. The ability to appreciate a good hack is a necessary part of this culture, and hackers frequently oblige by providing one during "R/O week".
