Not content to leave a hacked and defeated Harvard to tend to its own wounds, MIT hackers decided to give Johnny a hand after his 34-19 lose to Yale.
Early in the morning on Sunday, November 18th, a group of MIT hackers wandered into Harvard Yard and placed a pair of casts on the statue of John Harvard. One cast was wrapped around the statue's right leg. A skull cap was placed on Johnny's head, and a neckbrace from the ``MIT Medical Department'' which was decorated with a pin that said ``ask me about my lobotomy'' was originally placed around the statue's neck.
Steinberg mentions the hack in passing on page 123 of If At All Possible, Involve a Cow.
