In 1992, then President George Bush arranged an ``Industrial Summit'' at MIT. The summit brought high level dignitaries from the government and industry to campus. MIT Hackers decided to welcome these visitors in their own way, with a banner which read ``MIT NERDS for a better AMERICA'' and ``NERD PRIDE''.
