I. M. Pei Building Subject of MIT Hack

By Brad Bartley

CAMBRIDGE Jan 27 (Fishwrap) - Occupants exiting E15 found themselves standing inside a bathroom stall outside the building. The hack is biting architectural criticism of Pei's tile clad building, often compared to a bathroom and called the "Pei toilet."

Reactions from building residents to the hack were positive. A note from the Media Laboratory building services indicated the hack would be dismantled later in the evening.

Although the "Pei Toilet" is pink, Pascal Chesnais, noted for his hacks involving the color pink, denies any involvement. "Perhaps the hackers were paying tribute, or trying to taunt me... In either case, I have too much real work to do," said Chesnais. "However, nothing prevents me from taking action later in the semester."
