Prospective students visiting MIT for Campus Preview Weekend in April almost certainly walked through Lobby 7, MIT's main entrance on Massachusetts Ave. The more curious or observant may have looked up to see its domed ceiling. If so, they were greeted with a classic hacker message: "IHTFP" spelled out in red balloons, floating just below the skylight. Far more than just the name of the hack gallery, IHTFP is an unofficial motto of MIT (see the FAQ).
The hack stayed up for nearly 24 hours. Nonetheless, rumor has it that many people fell into the usual pattern: no one ever looks up.
