When the Media Lab adopted a new logo for its 25th birthday, hackers decided to send the image skyward by installing a giant version of the icon on the roof. The icon can be seen by viewing the MIT Media Lab (E14) on Google Maps on a mobile device.
Though it's unclear exactly when the hack went up, sources indicate that the hack was deployed in June of 2015, just in time for the Media Lab's 30th birthday.
Also, despite the clarity of this hack, it is in fact an entirely physical installation, and in no way digital.
